United Mission to Nepal (UMN) is an international development organisation which aims to enable the poorest people living in poverty to transform their Lives, leading towards fullness of life. As we serve the people of Nepal, multicultural teams of Nepali and volunteer expatriate staff work alongside local organisations in ten districts of the country, building partnerships that lead to healthy, dignified and empowered individuals and transformed communities.

Position: Education Trainer (based in Kapilvastu with frequent travels to other districts)

Education is one of the key technical areas of UMN’s development programmes and focuses on lasting positive changes in the education sector among the poorest people living in poverty. The post holder is the team member of UMN’s Education technical team. The main purpose of this position is to design and develop training manuals, facilitate trainings, give close technical assistance to local implementing NGO partners in the district to help them be effective in their training, implementation and monitoring. The job holder is also responsible to contribute to the implementation of UMN’s Cluster strategic plans.

Qualification and experience:

  •  Master’s Degree preferred in Education with a minimum of three years of experience in developing training curricula/manuals and facilitating training events including teacher training or Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a minimum of five years of work experience in developing training curricula/manuals and facilitating training events, including teacher training;
  •  Excellent knowledge and understanding of the current education issues in Nepal;
  •  Excellent knowledge and understanding of issues related to child, youth and child rights in Nepal;
  •  Proven work experience in designing training curriculum, courses, modules and manuals and facilitating trainings including child-friendly teacher trainings etc;
  • Extensive knowledge of instructional design theory, learning principles and implementation;
  • Proven ability to complete/master the full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate);
  •  Familiarity with traditional and modern job training methods and techniques;
  •  Experience of project management including planning, budgeting, monitoring, reporting and developing proposals;
  •  Experience of carrying out monitoring, evaluation and research;
  •  Good computer skills including MS-Office Package. Knowledge of database application would be an advantage;
  •  Advanced organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Strong communication skills in both Nepali and English.
