VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Embassy of Denmark, the Embassy of Switzerland/Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) in Nepal support a joint donor facility to manage coherent, harmonized, and coordinated financial and technical assistance on accountable, responsive, and inclusive governance. The three missions support this Governance Facility (GF) in line with the Aid Effectiveness Agenda. The program runs from 2014-2018. A second phase is under consideration.

The GF invites applications for the following positions from interested and eligible Nepali candidates who will deliver results with the highest level of integrity. The positions require fluency in English and Nepali in speaking, reading, and writing. Knowledge of any other major national language is an advantage.

SENIOR POLICY OFFICER-1

The Senior Policy Officer is responsible and accountable for the following in relation to accountable, responsive and inclusive governance: (i) supporting programming and partnership development; (ii) maintaining a watch brief on the external environment in relation to priority policy processes; and (iii) contributing to the design, production, and targeted dissemination of knowledge products and related advocacy. An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in sociology, political science, public administration, “law”, “social science”, economics ora related discipline. 6-10 years of relevant experience.

SENIOR MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER-1

The Senior Media & Communications Officer is responsible and accountable for: (i) developing and implementing the GF’s strategic communication plan, including its crisis communications plan; (ii) supporting senior management in its communication with national and international stakeholders; (iii) facilitating the production, publication, and dissemination of GF knowledge products ahd reports; and (iv) building the capacity of partners in developing their communication skills, including crisis communication. An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communications, media, journalism or a related discipline. 6-10 years of relevant experience in media relations and communications, including advising a management team on crisis communication.

SENIOR PARTNERSHIP OFFICER (HUMAN RIGHTS)-1

The Senior Partnership & Programme Officer (P&P Officer – HR), is responsible and accountable for (i) supporting programming and partnership development in areas related to human rights and justice by assessing strategies, results, and lessons learned on an ongoing basis; (ii) maintain a watching brief on the external environment in relation to human rights and justice, in order to contribute to GF situational risk and political economy analysis and to identify opportunities for GF support as well as risk mitigation strategies; and (iii) in collaboration with GF partners and other actors, including donors, contribute to the design, production, and targeted dissemination of knowledge products and related advocacy. A Nepali lawyer with 6 to 10 years of experience that includes advanced levels of legal research & writing as well as significant experience advocating before the courts. Experience with constitutional law would be a significant advantage.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER-1

The Information Technology Officer is responsible for (i) driving the use of technology in the organization; (ii) helping develop and implement IT standards and policies; and (iii) providing support and solutions to meet operational needs and ensure smooth operations. S/he will perform IT and related support activities that include equipment and hardware, software and technologies, network and systems security, compliance and capacity building. An advanced university degree (Masters’ degree or equivalent) in network, information systems, information technology or any other relevant discipline. 3-5 years working experience as IT lead with an international organization.

INTERPRETER/TRANSLATOR-1

The Interpreter/Translator (I /T) is responsible for (i) translating documents; (ii) providing simultaneous interpretation services at official events, conferences, field visits etc; and (iii) should read: proof-reading documents and correspondence prepared by staff in the English/Nepali language along with ensuring the quality of out-sourced translations. An advanced degree in English or any other relevant subject. 3-5 years working experience as an interpreter/translator.

Level and Location: All the positions are national positions based in Kathmandu with extensive travel to the field. Positions can be offered at two different levels, depending on the years of experience.
