Duties

The incumbent performs cashiering in conjunction with a wide variety of consular services. The incumbent is responsible for receipt, examination, daily deposit of and accountability for U.S. and Nepalese currency and cash instruments submitted in connection with payment for Consular services rendered. The incumbent prepares cash reports monthly and annually or on an as-needed basis, and reconciles off-site MRV fee collections on a monthly basis. When not cashiering, the incumbent assists with the clerical tasks of immigrant visa operations, provides clerical and administrative support to consular section management, serves as the section’s back up time keeper, and other duties, as required.

Education Requirements:

Completion of Higher Secondary School is required.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years of office clerical work involving public contact is required

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of general principles of accounting, financial record keeping, filing, and office procedures is required. A good practical knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel and Outlook is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level IV (fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. Level IV (fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing Nepali is required. English language ability will be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The ability to work under high customer servicing environment is required.

Qualifications:

All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications and complete a mandatory probationary period of one year for LE Staff.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:

1. The Mission may consider any of the following when determining successful candidacy: nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.

2. Current employees of the Mission who have not successfully completed their initial probationary periods are not eligible to apply. Current employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory or MBC score of 100 points or less, on their most recent Employee Performance Report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.

3. Current employees of the Mission hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment. This does not apply for employees on a PSA (Temp), or those are hired on a When Actually Employed (WAE) or intermittent work schedule.
