Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH invites applications from suitable and qualified professionals for the Revenue Administration Support (RAS) project. RAS is a joint Nepali German project under the guidance of the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) and with technical assistance by GIZ, acting on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). A more transparent, effective and service-oriented tax system in place, is the overall objective of RAS project It focuses on four result areas: a) improvement of tax auditors’ competencies of the large taxpayer office; b) establishment of prerequisites to lower taxpayer compliance costs; c) improvement of IT security) organizing public dialogues on unified tax code.

Position: Technical Advisor Taxation

Duty Station: Kathmandu with occasional field visit

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the development of Unified Tax Code
  • Assist in the development of audit training programme for Large Taxpayer Office (LTO)
  • Cooperate with Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) with regards to the taxpayer education programme
  • Provide technical expertise to the implementation partner and RAS team, particularly on the Nepalese tax system
  • Support in building institutional capacities of IRD
  • Cooperate with relevant governmental institutions, non-govemmental organizations and target-groups in line with the objective of RAS project
  • Support the RAS team in designing, monitoring and steering of the project activitiesRequired qualification and experience:• Master’s Degree from recognized university in the field of Economics, Law. Business Administration, Management, or Chartered Accountant from recognized board

    • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the similar assignment

    • Skills of report writing, documentation and presentations are essential

    • Able to work in diverse team and independently

    • Excellent communication in English and Nepali (both verbal and written)

    • Good working knowledge of MS Office package
