FULL DESCRIPTION:

Heifer Project Nepal (HPN), a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to ending hunger and poverty and caring for earth by providing livestock, education, and other resources to help poor families become self-reliant is seeking application for the following positions from qualified Nepalese citizens for the prototype components of Strengthening Smallholders Enterprises of Livestock Value Chain in Nepal (SLVC II) project. All the positions are Kathmandu based and requires extensive field work.

Project Manager – Abattoir Development: 1

Function: The Project Manager will be responsible for completion of all activities and deliverables of the prototype “Development of Abattoir (Goat)”. S/he will work in close collaboration and coordination with the Heifer Nepal team, project partners, Government of Nepal (GoN), Banks and Financial Institutions (BFIs), cooperatives, private investors and local technicians.

Educational Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Agricultural Economics or related field, plus minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management. Experience of working in meat or food industry are preferred.

Project Officer-CIGIG: 1

Function: The Project Officer will be responsible to implement the prototype “Establishment of Community Initiatives for Genetic Improvement of Goats (CIGIG) in Western Nepal”. In collaboration with goat farmers and their cooperatives,  he will be responsible to set up profitable community breeding centers with the function of producing and marketing breeding animals.

Educational Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Veterinary Science or Animal Science plus minimum of two years relevant experience. Other job- related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these requirements.

Project Officer – Digital Finance : 1

Function: The Project Officer will be responsible to manage the field operation of the prototype “Simplified Digital Financial Services” in collaboration with project partners and bank to build capacity of the cooperatives to operate as Branchless Banking Unit and implement Kishan Credit Card among its members.

Educational Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Agriculture Economics or Finance or Business Management or related field, plus minimum 3 years of experience in development sector, especially relevant work experience in the field of agriculture/livestock value chains including access to finance are required.
